Artist Note

Inspired by Lofi sounds and experimenting with how I paint a piece using layers of different paint types, minimalist in approach. Also inspired by the art of my friend Rubina, which really conveys (to me) the grandeur of emotions manifested in human form and the golden brilliance of that expression itself. Her work was a brilliant testament to the classic works of the masters. I wanted to experience my dream of an homage like that and so dreamfall happened. I was also watching a lot of anime at the time so there may have been a bit of that serving influence.

The Original Painting

The original Dreamfall is Acrylic, Spray Paint, Ink on Canvas, 20x16, painted in 2023. It is currently in the artist's studio and is not for sale.

Process Notes

The piece is a spray paint base with a layer of latex paint scattered by palette knife to suggest something like an explosion of light and color behind the subject. The subject is painted with acrylic. The trailing of her descent is gold leaf.
